It’s all about the people

Our success is down to our talented team

Making vodka from scratch is the most challenging undertaking in the spheres of spirits distillation.

Not only that – we opened the region’s first plough to bottle distillery with no previous experience of making spirits! It was a steep learning curve.

A family affair

At the heart of our team is Founder Steve Dustow (left), his brother Chris (centre), their dad Mike (right).

Whilst Chris and Mike increased Colwith Farm’s potato growing operation from forty acres to four hundred acres, Steve pursued a quest to make a world-class spirits on the family farm.

Supporting Steve, Chris and Mike are their equally passionate and dedicated partners, Sophie, Clare and Sue. Not to mention Steve & Chris’ six kids, who are eager to get involved. Watch this space …

After studying Business & Management at Exeter University, Steve (pictured left) found himself working as a Site Manager on large-scale building projects. Steve always hankered to return to the family operation and when a friend quipped about turning potatoes into vodka in 2010, there was no turning back!

In 2017, Head Distiller, Jordan Gilbert (pictured right) joined Steve. Jordan’s passion for spirits arose during a backpacking world tour, where he found himself working in one of Australia’s most infamous cocktail bars. Returning home, he learnt the local potato farm was opening a distillery and the rest was history ….

From potato pickers to mixologists

We now have a diverse team of twenty people across the farm and distillery, rising for high season and harvest.

We partner with local, national, and international experts, to supply and support the distillery, with everything from handmade pot stills made in Portugal through to blackcurrants from a octogenarian farmer in Lanlivery!
